penalty shootout victory over Red Scorpion, in a colourful ceremony presided over by GFF First Vice President Bakary K Jammeh.
Sirreh Kebbeh, an in-field player turned goalkeeper, was the heroine for Koita FC after she replaced their injured goalkeeper late in the game and then saved a penalty in the shoot-out. She also scored her penalty, inspiring Koita to a 5-4 shoot-out victory after a nail-biting 1-1 draw in regular time.
The lively final started with great energy, as Red Scorpion took early control while Koita’s defence remained firm. Ramatoulie Jegne showcased individual talent by receiving the ball in her half, outrunning defenders, and firing a low shot that was initially saved.
Jagne was quick to react and scored the rebound, giving Koita a 1-0 lead at halftime. Kaddy Jatta responded with a powerful 30-yard free-kick, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The match proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Koita, due to nerves, secured a 5-4 victory.
Koita FC emerged as winners, securing the championship with a Giant Trophy, Gold Medals, and a D250,000.00 cheque (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dalasis).
Red Scorpion was awarded Silver Medals and a D150,000.00 cheque (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dalasis) as a consolation prize. Additionally, semifinalists TMT FC and Darboes FC each received D50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Dalasis) as their consolation prize.
