The Organising Committee of the North Bank Region Football Association (NBRFA) has concluded its thorough review of appeals brought forward by Star Academy FC concerning the alleged use of ineligible players during official league matches. These cases were carefully examined in line with the Association’s rules and regulations, and our verdict symbolizes NBRFA’s firm commitment to protecting the integrity of our competitions and ensuring that fair play is upheld at all levels of the game.

In the case of Star Academy FC, a protest regarding alleged ineligible players fielded by North Star AFC Female during their match on July 12th, 2025, was received. Following an investigation and consultation with the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), the following was confirmed:

Player Ramatoulie Corr is officially registered with a football club in Senegal and was active in their league system prior to her clearance on loan to North Star AFC by her team but not by the TMS.

In accordance with FIFA regulations, any player registered in a foreign association through TMS system must obtain an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) before being eligible to compete in any domestic competition under the GFF.

Therein, GFF has confirmed that Ramatoulie Corr does not have an ITC issued and therefore was not eligible to participate in the said match. North Star AFC has breached the NBRFA Rules and Regulations, Article 7, Section 14, which clearly states that: "All international transfer of players shall be governed by the FIFA regulations”

In light of this finding, the protest lodged by Star Academy FC Female is hereby upheld. Consequently, the match result is nullified, and the win is awarded to Star Academy FC Female. Thus, Star Academy FC proceeds to the NBRFA third division female league final against Central Baddibou United.

Further to this, the NBRFA Organising Committee takes this opportunity to remind all member clubs of the need to strictly adhere to the regulations of the Competition Department. We all should recommit to upholding the values of fair play and good governance in our competitions.
