City Girls recorded an unlikely 2-0 victory over the high flying Prisons FC at Brusubi in match day eight of the GFF women’s second division league on Wednesday.
A goal in either half, by Faith Grace and Jariatou Kujabie secured the win. Faith hammered home from close range after a scramble in the box in first half stoppage time to put City Girls in front before Jariatou Kujabie ran through the Prison defense and unleashed a power shot into the roof of the net to put the icing on the cake for City Girls as they recorded only their second win of the season.
The result saw City Girls moved up to seventh with nine points, while Prisons dropped to second, levelled on points with leaders the Gambia Armed Forces who are only on top after scoring more goals than Prisons.

Jung Mama ended Kintehs’ winning run in a hard-fought 2-1 victory at home in Soma. Mariama Ceesay’s penalty and Kaddijatou Bah’s strike gave Jung Mama a 2-0 lead before Mariama Gaye scored a consolation for Kintehs from the penalty spot.

Mansa Wally’s poor run continued with another 2-0 defeat to newcomers Rakie FC in Brusubi on Monday in week eight of the GFF women’s second division.

Goals in either half by Awa Faal and captain Muminatou Barry did the job for Rakie in a game where they were the better side. The win took Rakie up to seventh with eight points, while Mansa Wally remains bottom on only three goals points.

Newcomers Sallahs stunned Lower Niumi 2-0 at Brusubi to move further away from the relegation zone in week eight of the GFF women’s second division

Abbie Manneh sent a curling set piece that eluded the Lower Niumi wall and forced goalkeeper Awa Jallow to helplessly watch as the ball flew into the net in the 69th-minute before Captain Ansel Mendy increased the scoring with her well placed free kick six minutes from time to break put the icing on the cake for Sallahs.
