Champions of the second edition of the Bakary K. Jammeh–sponsored North Bank Regional Football Association (NBRFA) Zonal Competition, following a dramatic 3–2 victory over Sabach Sanjal Zone in a well-attended final at the North Star Academy Complex in Kerr Jatta.

The ceremonial kick-off was taken by the sponsor, Gambia Football Federation First Vice President Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh, who was accompanied to the venue by GFF Executive Committee members Mr. Bakary Bojang and Ms. Maimuna Kanteh.

The match began with Essau taking the lead in the 24th minute through a powerful header from Njaga Jeng. Sabach Sanjal, however, mounted a strong response, equalizing ten minutes later via Modou Njie’s close-range finish before taking a 2–1 lead just before halftime. Kebba Njie was the scorer, finishing off a swift counterattack in first-half stoppage time.

After the break, Essau produced a remarkable comeback. Sheriff Sanneh’s deflected effort in the 65th minute leveled the score before Adama Jallow capitalized on a defensive miscommunication to slot into an empty net two minutes later, securing what proved to be the winning goal. Essau then demonstrated resilience to see out the match and claim the coveted trophy.

Following the final whistle, the tournament’s individual awards were presented. Essau Zone’s influential captain, Nuha Sonko, was named the Tournament’s Best Player. His teammate, goalkeeper Modou Lamin Sarr, received the Best Goalkeeper award, while match-winner Adama Jallow was deservedly awarded Man of the Match for the final. The Tournament’s Leading Goal Scorer award went to Sanna Singhateh of Lower Badibou.

As champions, Essau Zone received a prize of D75,000, gold medals, and the championship trophy. Runners-up Sabach Sanjal Zone were awarded D50,000 and silver medals.

In a closing ceremony, the North Bank Regional Football Association presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh in recognition of his continued sponsorship and support for the zonal competition for the second consecutive year.
