OUR LEGENDS CORNER: Arthur Gomez

Arthur Gomez was born in Banjul in February 12, 1984. A very prolific forward player during is playing days. He start playing football at a non league team (nawettan ) called London united fc based at Serre-kunda London corner.

Arthur was soon recognized by divisional teams in the Gambian league, he then sign with Banjul Hawks fc Marking the beginning of his senior career in 2000 till 2001. He made 12 appearance in the Banjul Red Devils outfit scoring 6 goal in that years campaign.

However the Striker was destined for higher heights as the English premier league giants Manchester united spotted him while playing in the international youth tournament and he later joined their youth ranks in July 2001.

Arthur was soon sent on loan to Royal Antwerp Football ClubAntwerp as often called, is a Belgian football club based in the city of Antwerp, playing in the  Jupiler League from the 2002–2003 season to the 2004–05 season. He Made 44 appearance there whilst on loan, scoring 12 goals.

In 2005-2006 season he joined KFC Dessel Sport a Belgian football club based in Dessel in Antwerp, playing in the second division league. After not taking part in that season, he moved to Henan Jianye Football Club. A Chinese professional football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League in 2006-2007 and went on winning the league that season. He made 25 appearance there scoring 8 goals that season.

Arthur made his maiden National team call-up in 2002 with the U-20 and went on to make 3 appearance scoring 2 goals. He also made his senior squad debut in 2001 and went on to participate constantly till 2003 scoring 2 goals.
