Gunjur United maintain brilliance of the 2019/2020 season campaign after bagging another victory, making it 2 wins in a row at the expense of Steve Biko Fc in week two of the Second Division league at the independence stadium.
Both sides struggled to stamp authority in the game at the first half-hour of the game, lack of composure and confidence saw the game to a sluggish start.
However, Gunjur united were able to spark some fire into the game as they opened the scoring in the 35th min through Dawda Darboe after a low cross from winger Malang Jasseh.
The visitors doubled their lead in a span of two minutes after a brilliant individual effort by pedro lopez to set up Omar Touray who had to slot in the second goal barely a yard from the goal post.
They went to the break with Gunjur with a two goals lead.
After the interval the Seaside boys (Biko) were not going to let the visitors have it their way as courage start to crawl in and they start to push back at the visitors eventually it paid off and they were able to pull one back through Kemo Kanyi from a close range.
Kemo’s goal gave the homeside the hope of a come-back but to their dismay they conceded a late penalty and Salifu Bojang stepped up and converted the spot-kick to sealed a 3:1 victory for the visitors Gunjur United.
Steve biko lost their first game and now the second in this season’s campaign, Steve Biko fc will be looking to redeem themselves in their next game hopefully.
