Zinedine Zidane confirms Real Madrid have made transfer decision over Achraf Hakimi

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Achraf Hakimi has ‘a great future’ at the Bernabeu, ahead of the full-back’s return from a two season loan stint with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund .

The 21-year-old has been in fine form in Germany, emerging as Dortmund’s first choice right-back ahead of club stalwart Lukas Piszczek.

With Alvaro Odriozola on his way out of Madrid, according to reports in Spain, Hakimi would be the perfect replacement to act as Dani Carvajal’s understudy.

Odriozola has made just 18 La Liga appearances since his £25m move from Real Sociedad back in 2018, failing to hit the heights which earned him a spot in Spain’s World Cup squad that same year.

Meanwhile, Hakimi is said to be highly though of in Madrid, with Zidane confirming that the Moroccan will be a part of his plans next season.

“We’re happy because he’s scoring goals with his team,” Zidane said at a recent press conference. “He has a great future in Real Madrid and we will see what will happen to him.”

Hakimi has previously admitted his admiration for Zidane, calling the former World Cup winner a ‘role model’.

“[Our relationship] was, and is, really good,” he told Spanish publication AS back in October.

“Since I left, I’ve seen that he’s spoken about me from time to time and I’m really grateful to him for giving me the chance to play for Real Madrid, the greatest club in the world.

“Whatever happens, I’ll always have a good relationship with him. He’s a role model for me, a fantastic player who has gone on to show that he’s a fantastic coach, too.”
