Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen has been rated as the most clinical striker to have played in the French Ligue 1 after his brace for Lille in their 3-0 win over St. Etienne yesterday evening.Loading…
The brace took his tally to four goals in three games from just six shots on target since his move to the French side from Belgium side Charleroi where he had a productive season that made the club sign him permanently from Wolfsburg.
Last season while at Charleroi he scored 23 goals in all competitions and if he maintains his current streak he is well on course to better the tally in France, where talks of his move away in the future has already started.
Reacting to his brace, Rob Thrainer who was on air during the game against St. Etienne said the 20 year old Nigerian is bringing back memories of what Karim Benzema did in the league before his move to Real Madrid in 2009.
” A lot of good forwards have played in Ligue 1 but Osimhen is special. He moves and finish in the box is no different from that of Benzema. The way he ghost past his markers is not something that is common among footballers of his age”, he said.
