Ansu Jaiteh and substitute Musa Bojang scored in either side of halftime to put jaliba united in the driving seat in group H. On Tuesday, the 20th of August, 2019, it was the turn of former champions jaliba united to battle it out with Santo-su .
It was a fixture that was tipped by many, to produce goals and on a rainy evening, the game did not fail. It started in a slow pace as both teams tried to put their grip on the game. As the rain continued to drop, Santo-su got a glorious chance from the penalty spot to take the lead but but Baptis Mendy’s low drive was saved by Aba Sanyang .
That was probably a wake up call for Jaliba. Deck out all in red, they began to click. In the 32nd minute of the game, the break through came for the skipper. The ball fell to his left out side the D, he controlled it and placed it for his deadly right foot to hammer low at the bottom corner. It flew passed a crowded penalty area into the net at the democracy end.
The stadium erupted as captain fantastic strikes yet again. Santo-su were punished for the chance they squandered. 1-0 at the break. In the second period, jaliba continued to put their foot on the accelerator as Muhammed Jaiteh continued to be a real pest for the santo-su defence.
In the 54th minute of the game, Jaliba could have got a second. Alagie Kawsu Jabbi’s volley rattled the cross bar and it was relief for santo-su. Moments later, center back Ebou Gibba made a goal line clearance to still keep santo-su in the game.
As they pushed for an equaliser, the jaliba defence was ever resolute. As fans went towards the exit thinking that it will end 1-0, little did the they know that manager Foday Jaiteh and his charges have other ideas. Substitute musa Bojang lashed one home in the 92 minute to break santo-su hearts. 2-0 it ended Deck out in blue, santo-su had no answers whatsoever. They have to go again, as for jaliba, this is a big boost towards the right direction.
