PA DEMBO FROWNS ON STEVE AND MODOU BARROW OMISSION

Former Gambian international goalkeeper and captain, Pa Dembo Touray has frowned on the continuous removal of Gambian duo of Baboubacarr Steve Trawally and Modou Secka Barrow by the head coach of The Gambia.

The former Real de Banjul, Djurgaden and Santos goalie, believed the current Gambia National team gaffer, Tom Saintfeit, did not possess the credentials to take Gambian football forward. “To be honest with you, with this coach we’re having right now I don’t see us going anywhere honestly. Because for me personally, I don’t have any confidence in this coach. I think what we should start thinking of is to stop bringing all these foreign coaches and give chance to our old players.”

“In order for Gambian football to go forward, we need to change lot of things going on in The Gambia. And this coach; people need to put him in check, The Gambian people need to stand up.” Touray appealed.

Speaking to our reporter via a telephone interview, Pa Dembo, stressed and emphasised the qualities of Baboubacarr Steve Trawally and Modou Secka Barrow who he said they’re one of our “best players” and if there is any problem between them and the coach. Something has to be done to end it.

“He is not Gambian and he doesn’t know our football that much, we the Gambians knows our football better. Why are they even allowing to let Steve and Barrow out of the team, when they’re one of our best players.” Look at the last match we played against Togo, Omar didn’t come, Steve didn’t come and Mo Barrow and with those three players we would’ve done better.

An now those two young players are doing so well but they’re out of the team. I think it is not fair, I don’t know what personal deference they’re having with them but they need to sort it out.” Pa Dembo Touray mused.
