THE PUB ARE CROWNS KINGS OF SIFOE

The Pub FC continued their remarkable run of form as they have beaten their fierce rival the Holy Trinity, 5-4 on penalties shootout to win the 2018/19 Sifoe Sports Committee League.

The Pub, who are the double Champions of Gunjur Nawettan were once again on song as they lock horns with their village rival The Holy Trinity.

The Holy Trinity, as their name implies were Holy indeed and they’d made life difficult for the informed The Pub FC. Both teams tighten their defenses and as a result there was no breakthrough in the regular 90 minutes and penalty shootout have to separate them were The Pub FC goalie Alieu Ceesay saved one penalty as his team went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

The coach of Holy Trinity, Sang Mendy accepted defeat as he believe there must be a winner or looser at any final. Mr Mendy, was however, quicked to say that it was not there plan to loose but that’s God making.

“It is normal because I know in football you either win or loose, so whatsoever comes in your way you need to take it in good faith. It is not what we were expecting but this is God making.”

“Anyway it is just like when you win a war today, tomorrow you want to go for war with the same people for you it might be ok but for them they will prepare better.” Mendy said.

A Jubilant The Pub FC coach Mustapha Camara, who have won three trophies for his side also spoke to the waiting reporters after the final whistle.

Mustapha said nothing but hard work is behind their success. “We trained both in the morning and the afternoon that’s the secret. We’re training 7 o’clock in the morning and 4 pm in the afternoon.

“Gunjur and Sifoe there way of football is not the same, here we keep the ball but at Gunjur there is more of kick and run.” The Pub coach Mustapha Camara explained.

The Pub FC went home with a giant trophy and a cash prize of Eight thousand dalasis (D8,000) while Holy Trinity were given five thousand dalasis (D5,000) as runners up.
