Toni Kroos 95th-minute winner help germany survive group stage exit scare

Swedish hearts were broken by Kroos’ brilliant free-kick in the 95th minute and everyone was left totally stunned.

TONI KROOS’ last-minute goal in Germany’s win over Sweden had fans and ex-pros alike in absolute awe. Kroos struck in the 95th minute with a brilliant curling free-kick.

Kroos delivered when his country really needed him.

Lining up the free-kick on the edge of the box, he and Reus were over it.

And boy did he do just that.

And boy did he do just that.

He curled a delightful effort right into the far top corner past Sweden goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

Sweden legend Henrik Larsson, who looked gutted on screen, said: “You have to admire the free-kick. Probably one of the last kicks of the game.

“It annoys me, Jimmy Durmaz should stand up.”

Patrice Evra simply added: “I feel devastated for Henrik.”

Gary Neville, meanwhile, was full of praise for Kroos and Germany.

He said: “It’s absolutely brilliant. Credit to Germany. We were ready to dance on the grave and they’ve gone and done it again. It’s not fluke.”

Once again, Twitter went into meltdown following the goal, including Kroos’ musical idol Robbie Williams.

Germany would have crashed out had they lost against Sweden but goals from Marco Reus and Kroos made Group F a whole lot more interesting.

Never before had Germany lost their two opening World Cup group games and Kroos was keen to have his say following his winner – after earlier conceding possession for Sweden’s opener.

He said: “You have the feeling some people in Germany would have been happy today when we go out.

“Of course the first goal is down to me. No question.

“But you’ve then got to have the balls to play like that in the second half.”
